Western Region Conference on March 2, 2014
in Sparks, Nevada

First speaker was from the NSTI (National Summer Transportation Institute) and this is designed to provide young people the opportunity to work for the Department of Transsportation. They are federally funded and need to have youngsters exposed to their information. The second speaker was from the National Forest Service and their most important product is water management.

They are in Quincy CA and they are looking for young recruits. Introductions of the newest chapter in Reno Nevada was the theme of the conference. Chapter reports from each president was very encouraging to hear all the wonderful things they are doing.

Outlines are available depicting how chapter meetings should be conducted. For a successful event, you need a professional fund raiser.

We have a basic outline identifying the process as a guideline. It was displayed what a typical by-laws should contain and they must be tailored to each state. June 9-June 14 is the ACE academy youth program. 13 to 17 years old and must travel with a chaperone in Las Vegas. We should try to submit a child to the competition.

We heard from three prior Students and their families on how their lives were changed by ACE.
